STUDENT AGREEMENT

PIANO LESSONS 2025/2026

Conditions of Music Tuition

1. Lessons

Lessons will take place at the agreed-upon day and time, with this slot reserved for the student.

Classes do not necessarily align with school terms.

2. Piano Practice

To ensure progress, students must have access to a piano or keyboard for practice at home. Parents are responsible for ensuring that students practise daily and complete the assigned work. If a student consistently fails to prepare for lessons, the teacher reserves the right to terminate lessons at their discretion.

3. Arrival and Collection for Face-to-Face Lessons

  • Students should ring the doorbell at their scheduled lesson time. If the previous lesson is ongoing, they may need to wait outside until the lesson finishes.
  • Parents and students cannot wait inside the premises, so parents should arrive promptly for pick-up.
  • If a student is left unattended, the teacher is not responsible for their supervision once the lesson has ended.

4. Payment of Fees

Monthly Payments

Monthly tuition fees are due the 1st of each month.

Invoices will be sent approximately one week in advance, and payment should be made in full by the due date.

Ad Hoc Lessons

For students booking lessons on an ad hoc basis, invoices will be sent as soon as possible and must be paid in full at least 48 hours before the lesson.

If a lesson is booked with less than 48 hours’ notice, payment should be made as soon as possible following receipt of the invoice.

5. Missed Lessons and Make-Up Policy

Tuition fees—whether paid as part of a yearly plan (divided into monthly payments) or for ad hoc lessons—are non-refundable. This applies regardless of attendance or cancellation.

To manage lesson rescheduling, students must log in at www.markstawmanpiano.com/student-login using their My Music Staff credentials.

Rescheduling via the Online Portal
  • Students must cancel and reschedule lessons through the online portal.
  • All make-up lessons must be completed by 31 July 2025.

To be eligible for a make-up class, students must cancel and reschedule through the portal at least 48 hours in advance.

How to Book a Make-Up Lesson
  1. Log in to your student account

  2. Go to the Calendar.

  3. Click on the lesson you’d like to cancel.

  4. You’ll then have the option to cancel or reschedule the lesson directly from the calendar.

If you can’t find a suitable time right away—or would prefer to reschedule later—as long as the lesson is cancelled with at least 48 hours’ notice, you’ll be issued a make-up credit. You can then use this credit to book another lesson at a time that suits you by clicking the ‘Book Now’ button in the calendar.

Make-up classes are not guaranteed and depend on availability, often relying on cancellations from other students. To maximise the chances of securing a make-up slot, students are encouraged to cancel via the portal with as much notice as possible.

6. Teacher Absences & Public Holidays

If a scheduled lesson falls on a Spanish public holiday or the teacher is unavailable, students will be offered an alternative lesson time.

If no suitable alternative time can be arranged between the teacher and the student, a credit will be applied to the following invoice.

7. Termination of Lessons

  • If fees are unpaid, the teacher reserves the right to terminate lessons immediately.
  • This termination does not waive any outstanding fees.

four-lesson cancellation policy applies from the date notice is given.

  • A fair adjustment will be made for any lessons already offered, which may result in additional payment or reimbursement.
  • If a student discontinues mid-month, no refund will be provided for unused lessons. However, students may attend any remaining paid lessons.
  • If the teacher terminates lessons without sufficient notice, pre-paid fees for future lessons will be refunded.

8. Conduct

If a student or their guardian exhibits unreasonable conduct, the teacher reserves the right to discontinue lessons. Fees for the remainder of the month will not be refunded.

9. Use of Images, Videos, and Social Media

  • Photos and videos taken during lessons may be shared on social media or the piano teaching website to showcase student progress and promote lessons.
  • If a student or parent prefers not to have their image or recordings used, they should inform the teacher in writing.

Face-to-Face Lessons Only:

For security reasons, a CCTV camera is installed in the piano room. This means lessons may be recorded.

Asynchronous piano lessons (packages) only

  • Students should allow up to 72 hours after sending their video to receive a response.
  • Videos sent between Thursday and Sunday will be reviewed the following week.
